SAD CAFÉ AND WIND BAR represents a comprehensive interior design project for a restaurant, encompassing a lounge area, wine cellar, coffee bar, and a spacious kitchen spanning over 100 square meters.
The design studio, inspired by the venue's expansive ceilings and intriguing shaded corners, sought to craft a dining ambiance evocative of "wandering in a valley." Upon entering, patrons are guided to the lounge area, conceived for relaxed moments with drinks and casual meals. Tables and inviting armchairs are thoughtfully positioned beneath a ceiling void, resembling a gully shaped by running water.
To amplify the atmospheric allure, the surfaces throughout the establishment are enveloped in a matte-finish silver foil, imparting a misty luminosity. The studio's analogy of entering a valley is further accentuated by the introduction of a dark green spiral staircase in the lounge area. This verdant feature not only adds a touch of nature but also serves as a visual cue, contributing to the illusion of steep hills and prompting patrons to cast their gaze upward.
The restaurant's lighting design is intentionally restrained, featuring a sparse arrangement of spotlights on the ceiling and a modest LED strip positioned discreetly behind the bar counter, delicately illuminating displayed bottles. Additionally, a substantial bronze screen adorns the restaurant's facade, proficiently obstructing direct sunlight from infiltrating the interior.
In essence, SAD CAFÉ AND WIND BAR presents a blend of rustic elegance within its interiors, crafting a dark and immersive atmosphere in the vibrant heart of Bangkok, Thailand.
Expanding on the dark green spiral staircase, this distinct element in the shop adds a layer of sophistication and nature-inspired aesthetics. The deep green hue, carefully chosen for its moody and elegant undertones, not only serves as a functional means of vertical circulation but also stands as a visual focal point within the space. The staircase's color is reminiscent of lush foliage, introducing a calming and organic element that resonates with patrons.
As visitors ascend or descend the spiral staircase, the dark green color enhances the overall ambiance, contributing to the immersive experience of being transported into a valley. This thoughtful design choice creates a harmonious interplay with the misty silver foil-covered surfaces, enriching the visual and sensory journey within SAD CAFÉ AND WINE BAR.
